The New Zealand Human Rights Commission hosted the launch of research on In-Work Poverty conducted by the NZ Work Research Institute and commissioned by the Human Rights Commission, MBIE and MSD.

This research was the first of its kind analysing the characteristics of people who are working but still living in poverty in Aotearoa. Saunoamaali’i Karanina Sumeo, the Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner spoke about the human rights implications of In-Work Poverty, and the authors of the report, Professor Gail Pacheco, Director of the Work Research Institute and Productivity Commissioner, and Dr Alexander Plum, Senior Research Fellow, NZ Work Research Institute spoke about their research findings and answered questions.

This seminar was hosted as part of the launch of research on In-Work Poverty conducted by the NZ Work Research Institute.

This seminar included an in-depth presentation and discussion of the research methodology and findings by Professor Pacheco and Dr Plum, as well as a discussion of the human rights implications of In-Work Poverty by Saunoamaali’i Karanina Sumeo, the Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner.
